TASK 7: VIDEO GAMES CONTRIBUTE TO YOUTH VIOLENCE

VIDEO GAMES CONTRIBUTE TO YOUTH VIOLENCE

In this essay, I will consider the question of how the video games contribute to youth violence. I want to report this because the parents have to be alert to what their children play and how is their behavior. It's important to know this information because nowadays the violence in our country is growing.
Firstly, I want that you know about the research coordinator and professor at the University of Iowa, Craig A. Anderson, who says they can demonstrate that violent video games and post directly affect aggressive behavior in children and adolescents who consume them. There are many reasons to think that videogames influence in children, for example most popular video games emphasize negative themes and promote kill people or animals, the use and abuse of drugs and alcohol, criminal behavior, lack of respect for authority and the law, etc. But there are some video games that promote learning, help in solving problems and developing motor skills and coordination. However, it is necessary to promote these types of video games instead of playing violent video games because the more realistic and repeated the exposure to violence, greater the impact on children.
In conclusion, I'm convinced that the parents should supervise their children to prevent  the video games that they play, may adversely affect their behavior. Companies that create video games have much responsibility, so they should develop games that do not promote violence. Personally, I think that currently kids are more likely to receive bad influence starting with the media and especially in video games.
