VIDEO GAMES CONTRIBUTE TO YOUTH VIOLENCE

FOR AND AGAINST ESSAY... By Katheryn Arellano

In this essay, I will consider the question of how the video games contribute to youth violence. It shouldn’t be allowed to the children
Then the pros and cons of this very controversial issue will be described:
PRO:
The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry consider that the children who see a lot of violence are more likely to view violence as an effective way of settling conflicts. Children exposed to violence are more likely to assume that acts of violence are acceptable behavior.
Viewing violence may lead to real life violence. Children exposed to violent programming at a young age have a higher tendency for violent and aggressive behavior later in life than children who are not so exposed.

CON:
Most of the research on whether video games encourage violence is unsatisfactory, focusing primarily on short-term effects. In the best study so far, frequent playing of a violent game sustained over a month had no effect on participants' level of aggression. And, during the period in which gaming has become widespread in America, violent crime has fallen by half. If games really did make people violent, this tendency might be expected to show up in the figures. Perhaps, as some observers have suggested, gaming actually makes people less violent, by acting as a safety valve.

In conclusion, I am convinced that the video games can be bad if you take more serious of you consider practice that game in your life. I think it is wring that children are exposed to so many video games of violence, so the fathers could tried to change their video games maybe.
