By Grizly Ruiz- How much do you know about Phonetics and Phonology?

As an English student, I know the importance that Phonetics and Phonology have for learning a new language. Since the beginning, people should be involved with those vital items for a better understanding about the correct pronounciation and writing of a foreign language. Phonetics is the study of human speech sounds, and Phonology, the study of how sounds are organized and used in natural languages. In other words, like the majority of people associate them, they are the grammar and pronountiation of words.

I remember that the first time I took Phonetics and Phonology lessons was very difficult.Throughout this time,  I needed to differentiate many similar sounds and phonemes; I began to feel weird and very confused. But then, I realized that I really needed it, otherwise I could have felt lost about some new knowledge in advanced. After some time, the lessons began to like me and at the end of the course, I learnt a lot. But I should say that even now, sometimes, I need to figure somethings out when I am looking for similar and new words.

I was very interested in speaking like an English people because all the time I have thought that if a person is learning a language, she or he should try to do her or his best to get the whole acknowledge. So, I recommend people look for many exercises about those topics or try new ways by themself to learn more.

Knowing a new language always is very excited and people can find good and entertained ways to get it!

  1. Grizly , you have reminded me a recent article I have read that says something like ...we should not worry about speaking as a native speaker , but to be understood.
However, it would be great to get the accent and having lived in an English speaking country- as you have- really helps.!!!
